JULY 2016 BOLIVIA HUMANITARIAN TRIP - DAY 4

Wednesday we back to the same school to teach the older gals that we missed on Monday. We packed another classroom full of 12-18 year old and dove into teaching. Before getting started with this though, we helped a portion of our group set up a puppet show stage to put on puppet shows for the younger children in the school. They did 2-3 different skits, each about 3-5 minutes long that talked about washing your hands and eating healthy foods. We had 7 younger children (9-13 yrs old) with us that controlled the puppets and it was a huge hit. We helped set up their stage and get them going and then took off to teach the girls about feminine hygiene.

I was starting to be much more familiar with the words and it began to go more smoothly. I still had to spend 15 minutes winning them over, but soon we were buzzing through education on menstruation, human bodies, having babies and the kit.

We went to another school in the afternoon where we did more puppet shows and another DFG class. That night we still hadn’t gotten our bags out of customs, which was so frustrating. We had visited with the other governor, gotten certified letters from all of the schools and clinics and they were still giving us a hard time about letting us take it with us. But once again had promised that probably tomorrow, Thursday, we would be able to get all of our bags out.

BECAUSE THIS TRIP WAS SUCH A LONG AND AMAZING ADVENTURE, I'VE CHOSEN TO BREAK DOWN THE BLOG POSTS INTO INDIVIDUAL DAYS. YOU CAN FIND THE JOURNAL OF EACH DAY HERE:
